Join us on Facebook to see a wonderful collection of photos of John Wyre’s World Drums at Expo 86 in Vancouver, Canada. The photos have been shared with us by Barry Burns who was production stage manager with the Expo 86 entertainment department and today is with the Shaw Festival. Barry says that World Drums “was a marvellous career highlight for me.” I was involved in it too, and it was one of the most joyous events I have ever experienced. So check out our new photo album on the NEXUS Facebook page. We will be adding more photos in the coming days. After our initial posting, our good friend Ryan Scott reminded us of the fantastic one-hour film that was done of it and sent us the link. It’s well worth the watch. It was directed by Niv Fichman of Rhombus Media and follows John throughout the creative process that brought World Drums together. AND you get to hear a whole lot of superb drumming! Thanks Ryan! There’s a three minute preview of the film at the link with some lovely footage of John Wyre and also of the feel-good Harmonites Steel Drum band. Timpano Percussion members have written saying they remember seeing this video when they were just kids, and they say, “It was very inspiring then and it still is today!” Follow us on Facebook by clicking the “Like” button there, and you will be alerted as we add more photos to the album.
